To mark his inauguration as PAGB President, Mike Knowland, General Manager for Northern Europe at Bayer Consumer Health, gave an interview to Arthur Walsh at P3Pharmacy all about PAGB’s work to champion self-care and shift healthcare for self-treatable conditions closer to patients and community pharmacy.

In the interview, Mike talks passionately about the role that self-care and pharmacies play in benefiting patients, the NHS and the economy. He shares that his principal goal as President will be to consolidate PAGB’s efforts to put self-care on the national agenda and ensure the Government’s words and commitments translate into action.

On discussing the key drivers that will support in the delivery of this goal, Mike highlighted the importance that educating the public has in improving confidence to self-care and shared that reclassification will be a key area to help widen access to medicines and self-care. Mike also talked about PAGB’s support for pharmacies, including looking to secure a better funding settlement and ensuring they are provided with the resources and information they need to support self-care.

In celebration of his new role and to welcome Mike as President, we were delighted to host Mike and his colleagues from Bayer at our offices today for a team lunch. This was a great opportunity for Mike to meet the whole team and share a little more about his ambitions in the delivery of our new five-year strategy.
