New edition of PAGB’s Professional Code for Medicines Advertising

We’re pleased to share with PAGB members a new edition of our Professional Code for Medicines Advertising.

This new edition has been updated to remove outdated references and streamline content to ensure it is clear and relevant for our members. We’ve summarised the key changes below, but for a detailed breakdown and Q&A session join us for our webinar on Tuesday 11 March at 12.30pm.

Key updates include:

  • References to essential information (EI) have been changed to product information (PI) to align with language more commonly used by our members.
  • The value of gifts and prizes that can be provided to healthcare professionals has increased – gifts now have a maximum value of £10 and prizes a maximum value of £220.
  • Short form product information is now permitted for digital media.
  • QR codes have been introduced for print materials as a way to provide product information.
  • A price range may be used to fulfil the cost requirements in long form product information when the exact cost cannot be stated.

Please note that all materials produced following the previous version of the Code remain compliant; the updates provide members with increased flexibility and clarity and have not imposed any new requirements.

Queries or requests for advice on professional facing materials can be directed to the advertising team at copyclearance@pagb.co.uk.
